HiQA have been busy at our newest laboratory in Tennant Creek undertaking predominantly concrete testing at this stage for the Northern Gas Pipeline project. The 622km pipeline will link Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory to Mount Isa in Queensland. Construction of the $800 million project began in July 2017 and the first gas is scheduled to flow in late 2018.
HiQA have been engaged by Civmec on the Phillips Creek Compressor Station, with all the foundation works completed apart from two internal access roads. Concrete pours are daily with the remaining pads due for completion a week before Christmas.
In addition to Civmec, HiQA have recently been engaged by McConnell Dowell who are the main contractors constructing and placing the gas pipeline. HiQA will be carrying out compaction testing for the access roads that cross the pipeline plus compaction testing for the gravel at the substations.
HiQA’s branch facility in Tennant Creek gives the NGP project an economical option for all contractors if soil, aggregate and concrete testing is required. HiQA’s new presence in the region is a ‘Yes’ Experience for Tennant Creek.
