Project Overview:Recently, the HiQA Team in Katherine conducted concrete testing at the Mataranka Thermal Pools, where the client is enhancing the boardwalk and viewing platform. Situated approximately 106km south of Katherine, Mataranka features two natural thermal pools within the Elsey National Park.

As part of the project, the team installed a concrete spillway at the Thermal Pools’ end, requiring the diversion of the spring-fed creek. This diversion was executed seamlessly, maintaining public access to the pools while utilising pumps and sandbags to redirect the water.

The project specifications involve achieving a concrete strength of 40 MPa (40/10/80). During the initial trip for the spillway, Bec casted two sets of cylinders. Subsequent visits are planned for additional concrete testing, specifically focusing on certain sections of the boardwalk.
