Delivering Excellence in Regional Infrastructure Projects with SRG Global

Project 1: McPhee ROM 2 Crushing and Screening

Client: SRG Global
Start Date: 10 June 2025

Project Overview
This project involved crushing approximately 40,000 tonnes of material to produce base course and sub-base material for the Marble Road upgrade. All crushing and screening activities were carried out in accordance with Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) specifications for pavement basecourse.

HiQA’s Role
HiQA was engaged to provide material testing services to ensure all produced materials met the required quality standards.

Challenges and Our Response
In the early stages of the project, maintaining compliance with specification presented challenges. Over 10 particle size distribution (PSD) tests were conducted in a single day to calibrate screening processes and ensure materials were crushed correctly. Our proactive approach allowed the client to make rapid adjustments, minimising downtime and production delays.

Client Support
The intensive early testing helped SRG Global align crushing operations with MRWA specs, ensuring smooth progress for the remainder of the project. Our ability to deliver fast, accurate results provided critical support during the early adjustment phase.

Project 2: McPhee ROM 2 Access Road Section 1A

Client: Roy Hill – SRG Global
Start Date: 25 November 2024

Project Overview
This project focused on constructing a 5-kilometre sealed access road between Marble Bar Road and ROM2, including new intersections at PSA Road and Marble Bar Road. The road has been designed to accommodate high-capacity road train traffic, improving connectivity and operational flow to the Roy Hill mine site.

HiQA’s Role
HiQA provided construction material testing throughout the project, ensuring all layers and materials complied with MRWA specifications.

Challenges and Our Response
We supported the client in navigating the MRWA specification requirements, particularly around basecourse compliance. By providing technical guidance and timely testing services, we ensured correct placement and compaction standards were met.

Client Support
All basecourse placement was completed within three weeks. HiQA played a key role by delivering results efficiently, enabling timely inspections and signature approvals. Our responsiveness helped the client stay ahead of schedule and avoid costly delays.

Outcome

HiQA’s involvement in both projects ensured that quality assurance was upheld throughout. From rapid PSD testing to proactive support with MRWA standards, we demonstrated our commitment to delivering results and helping clients succeed in remote, challenging environments.
