Conformance testing is the process of checking whether construction materials and methods meet the standards and specifications set out in a project. These requirements are usually detailed in a conformance clause or statement within the project documentation, and testing helps confirm that everything is being carried out to the correct standard.
In civil and earthworks projects, this means verifying that materials like soil, aggregates, concrete, and rock are tested and used in line with engineering and design expectations. It’s a vital step in demonstrating compliance and maintaining quality throughout the build.
Our team offers both Level 1 and Level 2 conformance testing:
Level 1 requires continuous onsite supervision by a geotechnical inspection and testing authority (GITA). The GITA observes each stage of bulk earthworks and is responsible for verifying that material placement and compaction are performed to specification. At the completion of works, they provide an opinion on compliance based on the testing and inspections carried out.
With Level 2 testing, a geotechnical testing authority (GTA) visits the site as needed to carry out sampling and testing. This approach doesn’t involve full-time supervision, but the GTA still plays a key role in confirming whether materials meet the required standards by selecting test locations and reviewing results.
We provide detailed, timely reporting to help you demonstrate compliance with confidence and keep your project on track.
